COVID19 Precautions

Truli Wetsuits is doing what we can to help keep you and our shipping partners safe while taking measures to prevent the spread of COVID19.

When you order your Truli Wetsuit online, by the time it arrives at your doorstep, it will have passed through several hands.  From the fulfillment warehouse, shipping agencies, possibly customs and then to you.  Some wetsuits will have already been tried on by other customers in their own fittings at their homes too and then returned to the warehouse.

The good news is that shipping agencies have made statements that it is unlikely for COVID19 transmission through mail and parcels (Source:  USPS, UPS, FedEx, Canada Post).  Additionally, the main method of transmission of the virus is by infected droplets between people in person.  Even though it has been shown that transmission is possible via surface contact, the viability of the virus on surfaces is less than the amount of time it would take to receive the shipment (WHO, CDC, CDC - home deliveries, Public Health Agency of Canada).

That being said, I have yet to discover any confirmed research on the viability of the COVID19 virus on neoprene or other non-hard surfaces, so as is with the entire pandemic, there are some unknowns we cannot prepare for with 100% certainty.  If you come across any research on this, please don't hesitate to share it with me.

I am of the mind to take extra precautions rather than to regret later.  Information is changing all the time, so please take the time to consult with your own local health officials and use your best judgment.

Receiving your Truli by Mail after your online purchase and Trying your Truli in your Home

Wash your hands for 20 seconds and then wipe down the outside of the package with a disinfectant wipe before opening.  Try your Truli Wetsuit(s) on (Fitting advice - Tips & Tricks).

It doesn't fit - I need to return and/or arrange an exchange

If you've gone through the Fitting advice - Tips & Tricks for trying a Truli, but none of the sizes you've received feel amazing.  Get in touch with Mia/your Truli Sizing Specialist and explain your concerns right away (within 10 days, but as early as possible upon receiving it).  While waiting for any fitting advice and return instructions, lay your wetsuit flat in a safe place or hanging in the closet with the zipper done up.  Let Mia know if you or anyone in your house has been sick in the last 30 days.  If so, it will let me give a heads up to the warehouse staff if any extra precautions need to be taken to "quarantine" a returned wetsuit.

When you're ready to re-package the Truli Wetsuit(s) for return, wash your hands for 20 seconds and then package the wetsuit(s) for the return as instructed.

Trying a Truli at a Designated Fitting Site

Trying a Truli at a Designated Fitting Site allows you to do a professional fitting before you make your purchase.  Although the expansion of Designated Fitting Sites have been put on hold for the time-being, there are 2 locations that continue to fit women - Divers Den in Tobermory, Ontario, Canada and Outer Reef Scuba in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.  Once your size is determined in consultation with a DFS staff member, you purchase from their shop and they connect with Truli to arrange shipping direct to you (or to the shop so you can pick it up from them).  In this scenario, there are no returns, exchanges or refunds because you've already figured out your best fit.

An in-person fitting requires some precautions to keep everyone safe and prevent the spread of COVID19.  I've discussed with the Designated Fitting Sites set up in Tobermory, Canada at Divers Den and Indianapolis, Indiana at Outer Reef Scuba the following protocols.

  • Fittings are by appointment
  • Read the Tips and Tricks to give you a head's up on your fitting session
  • Wear a mask as you may not be able to maintain a distance of 6ft/2m between others.  This also allows a level of protection, so staff can comfortably lend a hand as required.
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds and/or use hand sanitizer upon arrival at your appointment (preferably bring your own hand sanitizer).  Any Truli Wetsuits that you have tried on will be put into "quarantine" for 72 hours.
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds and/or use hand sanitizer after departing your fitting session

Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.  So far, everyone involved has been very safe, diligent and considerate - Thank-you!

Stay safe everyone!
